A Life Well Lived: Robert Kresse

Tribute to Robert Kresse

Tue, Dec 1st 2020 09:00 pm

Our Board Chairman Emeritus, Robert Kresse, passed away peacefully on November 30th, 2020. Guided by his faith and love of preservation, Robert led the effort to rescue his childhood parish of St. Mary of Sorrows from demolition in the 1980’s. He became the driving force to restore the building and bring purpose back to what would become known as the King Urban Life Center (KULC) and Buffalo's first public charter school. Bob saw the center as a beacon of hope for the children within the neighborhood and today that vision holds true. We are indebted to Bob—an agent of change and hope, and whose devotion to the King Urban Life Center shows us all what is possible when you have the courage to dream!

We send condolences to the entire Kresse family, especially his beloved wife MaryAnn Kresse, who has been by Bob’s side for 56 years, and has also generously devoted time and her expertise to the mission of KULC.
