After School Academic & Technology Success Program (S.T.E.A.M. Team)

Our Head Start Program, as well as After-School Academic and Technology Success Program (S.T.E.A.M. Team), support a variety of innovative early-childhood and school-age programs through various partnerships throughout the city of Buffalo.  Our programs and partnerships include:

Community Action Organization of Erie County (CAO) and Head Start Program

The King Urban Life Center campus offers Head Start Programming. Head Start provides education (literacy/numeracy), nutrition, health, mental health, and social services to approximately 150 three-and-four year olds, and their families. A wonderful by-product of having KULC CAO Headstart Academy on our campus is that our Parent-Child+ program serves as a feeder to the Head Start program. Head Start also provides speech, physical, and occupational therapists, and special education teachers for children who may need additional therapeutic supports. The Head Start program is conveniently located on the King Center Campus at 30 Rich Street.

Buffalo Museum of Science

Our Academic and Technology students regularly visit the Buffalo Museum, including its annual Bubblefest, as well as the Make It Move Maker Space, where attendees make their own movable creations, including rockets, boats, and windmills.

Summer Programming

Partnering with Say Yes and Primetime, KULC offers grades K-8 students a six-week summer camp during the summer months. Students are offered hands-on career development opportunities, as well as science, math and technology experiences.
