After School Academic & Technology Success Program

Our Head Start Program, as well as After-School Academic and Technology Success Program, support a variety of innovative early-childhood and school-age programs through various partnerships throughout the city of Buffalo.  Our programs and partnerships include:

WNY STEM and Computers for Children (CFC)

During the summer, students spent two days at CFC, where they learn to take apart and rebuild computers.  At completion, students go home with a rebuilt computer, chargers and more.

Community Action Organization of Erie County (CAO) and Head Start Program

We are now in the 2nd year of offering Head Start programming on the King Urban Life Center campus. The King Urban Life Center CAO Head Start Academy opened in September of 2016. Head Start provides education (literacy/numeracy), nutrition, health, mental health, and social services to approximately 150 three-and-four year olds, and their families. A wonderful by-product of having KULC CAO Headstart Academy on our campus is that our PCHP program serves as a feeder to the Head Start program. Head Start also provides speech, physical, and occupational therapists, and special education teachers for children who may need additional therapeutic supports. The Head Start program is conveniently located on the King Center Campus at 30 Rich Street.

Hand in Hand Summer Program and Health Science Charter School

During the summer, our grade 7-12 students participate in a 9-day Hand in  Hand Summer Program at the Health Sciences Charter School. Here, students learn to use 3-D printers to help customize prosthetic hands for WNY children.  In August 2017, our students were even featured in a news report on WIVB.  See link: http://wivb.com/2017/08/15/wny-children-receive-free-prosthetic-hands-thanks-to-hand-in-hand-program/

Buffalo Museum of Science

Our Academic and Technology students regularly visit the Buffalo Museum, including its annual Bubblefest, as well as the Make It Move Maker Space, where attendees make their own movable creations, including rockets, boats, and windmills.

Saturday Reading Club
Our monthly Saturday Reading Club is held the last Saturday of each month during the school year.  Each year we explore themes to expand student's exposure to various authors and subjects.  Students from Gr K-8 are welcome to join us for reading, snacks, craft & more!
